Agatha Christie's Poirot

Requested: Arthur Hastings/Hercule Poirot — Art & Fic

I love Poirot! He's notoriously arrogant and vain but still funny and lovely, he's brilliant, he's quirky, he's hopelessly old-fashioned on the one hand but unconventional and open-minded on the other. And Hastings, the noble British gentleman, a little naive and slow, bless him, wearing his heart on his sleeve and in many aspects the very opposite of Poirot. I love their bickering and the way they complement each other, the way they know to handle each other's quirks and regard them with fondness.

I love how especially the early episodes have so many casually domestic scenes between the two of them that make them seem like a couple more often than not (going on holidays together, cooking and dining together, going out together, meeting friends together), and how both Japp and Miss Lemon never question it.

Visually, I love their outfits. Poirot with his meticulous old-fashioned style, obviously, but Hastings' modern look isn't bad either. They just look so dapper together! Oh, and the contrast when Hastings is especially casual in his shirt-sleeves or with rolled-up sleeves... All the art deco settings are amazing as well.

Prompts

• Undercover as a couple: I know I can't expect a complete case fic, but maybe a small scene of them having to act the couple, or Poirot suggesting the plan to Hastings (I imagine he would be taken aback at first), or entering that discreet establishment for the first time? Surely this leads to a revelation of sorts?
• Dancing: I love men ballroom dancing, slow dancing etc in all situations. Maybe in the privacy of Poirot's flat? Or among trusted friends? As an established couple or for the first time as a part of getting together? Spontaneously in their every-day clothes, or in formal evening wear?
• Blackmail: Poirot and Hastings being blackmailed as an established couple? Can they solve the issue on their own, or can they get some help from Japp or Miss Lemon? Or maybe the blackmailer just mistakes them for a couple when they aren't (yet)? Or just Poirot being blackmailed for an entanglement in the past and trying to keep it to himself but Hastings finds out?
• Fixing each other's clothes: As a secret gesture of affection between an established couple, or subconsciously wanting to be close to the other, or ruefully snatching an intimate moment thinking that's all you'll ever have... It's mostly Poirot doing this in the show, but maybe the other way round happens too?
• Japp & Miss Lemon: What's their take on Poirot and Hastings' relationship? Do they believe them a couple before they are? Surprised to find out that they are? Not surprised to find out?

Availability

A lot can be found on dailymotion. Overall the series is quite long, but the episodes are all episodic and I don't think you have to watch them all in order to write. Not all of them have Hastings in them anyway. The earlier episodes tend to have the most shippy interactions and most of them are only 45min.

Astérix le Gaulois

Requested: Asterix/Obelix, Fulliautomatix/Unhygienix — Art

I've loved Asterix since childhood, and I like it just as much as an adult. The adventures are fun, the humour is great, and the art style is just lovely in every way. It's just an all around feel-good canon for me. Asterix and Obelix obviously belong together, and and I love how inseparable they are, and especially how everyone treats that as a given. As for Fulliautomatix and Unhygienix—those two are hilarious together. I love their long-practised ease at pushing other's buttons, and the passion with which they like to fight with each other really makes me wonder if it isn't some form of pigtails-pulling or foreplay.

• Obelix is always so embarrassed when anything romantic happens or when he's got at crush on someone—so how'd he react when Asterix does something romantic? And what about Dogmatix? Would he be embarrassed, too? Rolling his eyes? Happy?
• Obelix giving Asterix a menhir of romantic significance? However that would look like. :D
• Obelix could easily bridal-carry Asterix, I'm just saying...

• Often when Fulliautomatix and Unhygienix fight, the rest of the village joins them. I love the idea of Fulliautomatix and Unhygienix sneaking away together while the others are still at it so that they continue in private (if you get my drift).

There are many comic books and movie adaptions, but they are all stand-alone. Jurassic Park (Original Trilogy)

Requested: Billy Brennan/Alan Grant — Art & Fic

Dinosaurs! Scientists doing science things! Ahem. I love Alan, grumpy, quiet, smart, confident in his field of work and in a crisis, a dry sense of humour, solitary and self-contained. He's exactly the kind of still-waters-run-deep type that I find extremely fascinating. He's not the type who forms friendships and relationships easily, what with not liking to be around people very much—and yet he likes Billy, who's in many regards the opposite of him. Eager, easy-going, adventurous, impulsive. I can imagine that Alan likes that Billy sometimes drags him into things (if they don't end him on a deathly island, that is), even if he wouldn't admit it or doesn't even realise it himself. (I'm also very amused by how much it looks like Billy is Alan's pretty boytoy and how appalled Alan would be by the idea.)

Visually, well, apart from all the lovely dinosaurs, Billy is just so very pretty, and I find Alan especially sexy, blue eyes and hat and all. Definitely a fan of that hat!

• Alan and Billy never really got a happy moment together on Islar Sorna. What I enjoy so much about the first movie is how it not only shows the horrors, but also the wonders of coming face to face with living dinosaurs, touching them even. I'd love for Alan and Billy to have something like that, being able to enjoy the dinosaurs, learn something new about them, sharing that joy with each other...
• In a similar vein, spending a night on the island together not separated? Huddling for warmth, or clinging together while not trying to fall off a tree during their sleep, or tending to each other's wounds, ...
• What if Alan, upon seeing Billy alive on the helicopter, just snogs him before realising what he's doing? Would Billy be so out of it that he later thinks it was all a dream? I guess the other evacuees wouldn't be too surprised, seeing
• That moment when Billy accepts the Kirby's dinner invitation on both of their behalves and Alan doesn't even seem surprised—were there other incidents where Billy has made decisions like that? Maybe purely work-related decisions at first as Alan learned to trust his skills, then slowly spilling over into private stuff as well?
• Mistaken for a couple: By the students, or the Kirbys, or old friends? (I adore Ellie and Lex, btw, always happy to have them in fic!) Maybe Alan talks more about Billy with his friends than he realises...

Availability

Out of the three movies, Billy only appears in JP3, though JP1 is absolutely worth a watch (the best of the franchise, imo) and it has more of Alan and the whole dinosaur backstory. JP2 is entirely skippable—no Alan, no Billy, no island.

Saturday Night Live

Requested: Seth Meyers/Stefon — Art & Fic

I love how different Seth and Stefon are: Stefon, the crazy weirdo with all his unbelievable party stories whose world is so far removed from "normal people"; and Seth, the "normal people" guy who has all rights to be annoyed at Stefon's antics and his ways of messing up the segment he's trying to deliver, but who's nonetheless incredibly patient, charmed and amused by almost everything Stefon does. It's the kind of dynamic that looks like it wouldn't work out from the outset, and yet it does, and it makes me curious what exactly these two people see in each other.

I'm over the moon that these two actually got their happily ever after. The marriage was perfect! However, I still can't get enough of getting-together fic that tells this story a little differently, or that fills in the blanks of how they got to that point.

Visually, I love how expressive both Stefon and Seth are—facial expressions as well as body language. Stefon obviously, with his flamboyant behaviour and trademark gestures, but even Seth with his annoyed-to-scandalised "Ste*fon*!"s and his disbelieving-yet-amused reactions. The contrast between Seth's classic suits and Stefon's camp style is great, too.

Regarding Seth's girlfriend: I prefer that they either break up before anything with Stefon happens, that she's a willing beard, or that she doesn't exist (maybe Seth's mentions of his girlfriend are just scripted lines for the jokes). I'm fine with not mentioning her at all, but if you want to flesh her out more beyond "the girlfriend", I prefer if you make her up completely instead of taking characteristics from Seth Meyers' real life girlfriend/wife.

• Office gossip: What do Seth's colleagues think is going on between Seth and Stefon? Do they tease Seth? Are they fed up with all the flirting and UST after so many years?
• What happens all those times Seth and Stefon invite each other out? Valentine's Day? Spring break? How does Seth fare in Stefon's crazy nightlife world? Is it really as crazy as Stefon makes it out to be? (Invent all the fun nightlife if you like!)
• Seth's family: So Stefon has spent Christmas at New Hampshire and has met Seth's mom on Mother's Day. What do Seth's family make of Stefon and what do they think is going on between him and Seth? How does Stefon get on with Seth's family? I imagine it would a bit of a worlds collide situation, maybe with funny misunderstandings or Seth facepalming when conversation with Stefon always seems to turn into weird non-family-friendly territory.
• What's going on under that desk? I prefer that no actual sex in front of an audience is happening, but other than that: Footsies? Groping? Stefon hiding under there during a different segment, trying to get his hands on Seth while Seth has to pretend nothing is happening? Blow jobs when they are alone for whatever reason?
• Flirting: I'd love to see how their flirting continues when they are a bit more private. After show party, maybe? Sticking together, ignoring everyone else around them, enjoying each other's company. Does that go on for years and years as well before it comes to anything?
• That joke about news announcers not wearing any pants: Maybe Seth lost a bet or something? I'm sure Stefon approves. ;)

Here is a playlist with all of Stefon's appearances It's just a little over two hours all in all, and I can recommend watching them all and in chronological order, as there's a certain relationship development running through the sketches.

The Slow Mo Guys (Roster Teeth/Achievement Hunter RPF)

Requested: Gavin Free/Dan Gruchy — Art & Fic

I love everything about The Slow Mo Guys: The amazing slow motion footage, the scientific aspects, watching the set-up of the experiments and the improvisation that goes into it, Gavin's camera geekiness, Dan's willingness and ability to do almost anything.

Most of all, I like Gavin and Dan's friendship: the humour, the banter, the nettling each other, the way they know each other so well and always seem to have so much fun with each other and with their experiments. I also love the boyish aspects of the friendship, the playful rudeness and pranking and tussles and laughing at each other's pain. I'd love to see that preserved in a relationship! A friends with benefits situation is also something I could easily see with these two, or FWB that slowly shifts into a relationship. Also, how cute is them calling each other "B"? Or that Dan in in charge of Gavin's shed? Awww.

Visually, I love the often very colourful or aesthetically pleasing experiments, the messes they make (especially on Dan :D), the funny or stupid faces and poses they capture on camera.

For shipping purposes, I'd prefer IRL relationships to be ignored. I don't mind fictional past relationships or hookups, though. I should maybe also note that while I haven't seen much of Rooster Teeth/Achievement Hunter, I don't mind any of those people as supporting cast.

• Something about Dan getting messy during filming: Maybe Dan chasing Gavin to grab him and rub off on him, and that leading to something more? Feeding each other exploded food? Licking exploded fruit off of each other? Gavin behind the camera finding it sexy when Dan gets messy? Dan getting messy in intimate places? Messy sex?
• Apparently Dan isn't exactly careful about keeping himself covered—bless him—so Gavin has got the occasional eyeful. Maybe that leads to a revelation on Gav's part? The hotel room incident is such a great fic opportunity ! (Was there only one bed by any chance???) Maybe Dan does some of these things on purpose to take the piss and is surprised by the reaction it elicits in Gav? Or Dan does it to test the waters while having plausible deniability? Gavin seeking revenge in some form (setting up a camera maybe?), which might or might not backfire?
• Sexy filming: Slow motion sex? Sexy outtakes from their Slow Mo Guys shooting where they couldn't keep their hands off each other? Making a sex tape? Sending each other stuff over the phone, accidentally or on purpose (to take the piss or because of a long distance relationship)? I love camera geekery, so feel free to include as much technical filming stuff as you like.
• Funny sex: They are laughing and goofing around so much that it's hard to imagine it would be any different during sex. Maybe a stupid idea that turns into a funny mishap?
• Mistaken for being in a relationship: Maybe when they go condom shopping for a Slow Mo Guys vid? Playing along for the laughs until it it makes them realise things? What do the Rooster Teeth colleagues think of Dan and Gavin's relationship when they first meet him?
• Bets and dares: Dan seems to be unable to resist a dare, and Gavin seems to enjoy putting him through all kinds of stuff. Like the ice bottle dare—someone needs to make sure Dan is still fully functional after that ordeal. Or warm him up properly. ;) Any other silly stuff Gavin might come up with that leads to unexpected results? Or maybe someone at Rooster Teeth daring Dan and Gavin both, maybe in a game of Truth or Dare or something like that?

There's the Slow Mo Guys channel with all their slow mo videos and their second channel with behind the scenes stuff. There's also a playlist of all their appearances elsewhere, like interviews and collabs. Overall, it's a lot of material, but every video is self-contained and don't think you need to have seen everything in order to write.

Winter Begonia (TV)

Requested: Cheng Fengtai/Shang Xirui — Art & Fic

I love Xirui and the many facets of his character: his impatience, his naive impulsiveness, his generosity, his sensitivity and his big emotions, his strength, his recklessness, the stubbornness and the pouts... I love the contrast between his delicate side as an artist and female opera role, and his physical strength and martial arts skills on the other. Fengtai is so much the opposite of that, all business and strategy and calm charm, and yet, he is so fascinated by Xirui, and they get on so well and complement each other. Really, their first meeting is just the best thing: instant heart-eyes on Fengtai's side. He's really very good at those, bless him.

Aside from all the feelings and drama, I really appreciate the sweet and funny moments the show gives us. My favourite side-characters are Cha Cha'er, Lao Ge, Xiao Lai, and Gu Dali.

Visually, this show is just soooo pretty! The way it is shot, the colours schemes, the costumes (not only the opera costumes, but Fengtai's whole wardrobe as well), the main characters... I want to wrap myself in that prettiness. ♥

Regarding Fengtai's wife: I prefer it that she either doesn't exist/you don't mention her, that she's Fengtai's relative instead of wife, or that their marriage of convenience stayed a platonic relationship/friendship with no expectations of exclusivity on either side.

• At one point in canon, Fengtai muses about how Xirui is so feminine on stage and so masculine off-stage. I'd love to see that explored. I'd prefer if Fengtai finds both sides of Xirui equally attractive and is fascinated by Xirui's ability to be so many different personalities, but I wouldn't mind at all if Fengtai can admit his attraction to Xirui's feminine roles more easily, or if one or both of them find it easier to initiate things that way. Maybe they start flirting when Xirui is dressed up and then stop when he's out of costume? How does it slowly spill over into their regular interactions/personas? Maybe Xirui worrying that Fengtai is only into him "as a woman", or Fengtai worrying that Xirui is just playing a role and not actually interested?
• There's that scene in the show where Xirui shows Fengtai some of his opera hand gestures—I have a things for hands anyway, so all the hand porn is welcome. Fengtai admiring Xirui's hands? Xirui trying to correct Fengtai and the touch slowly turning into more? How does Xirui feel when Fengtai unexpectedly gets it right—does he like how it looks on him?
• One of those physical fights/wresting of theirs turning into more? I always love feelings or sexual attraction surfacing in the heat of a fight, anger and adrenaline lowering inhibitions, physical closeness revealing desires...
• Fengtai teaching Xirui western ballroom dancing. I guess there's enough plausible deniability that it's just for Xirui's professional interest to get them started :D
• I like to imagine that Lao Ge is not just a loyal driver and employee, but a close friend as well, seeing how they do have plenty of opportunity to talk in the car. He's probably also the person best informed about Fengtai's whereabouts, being the one driving him and his acquaintances places. So maybe his view of Fengtai's and Xirui's relationship? Maybe he understands Fengtai's feelings before Fengtai does? Does he offer a sympathetic ear? Help keeping the affair secret?

Crossover Fandom

Requested: Misha Collins (Supernatural RPF) & MJN Crew (Cabin Pressure), Jensen Ackles & Misha Collins (Supernatural RPF) & MJN Crew (Cabin Pressure) — Fic

I first started to think of Supernatural and Cabin Pressure together when I tried to explain what the big deal of the SPN finale was to someone who had no idea what SPN was in the first place. I suddenly felt like Arthur explaining the plot of Quest for Camelot to the confused Cabin Pressure Crew. Then I stumbled upon the story of the portrait of Jensen Ackles made out of skittles, which is amazingly close to Arthur's collage made of pasta shapes. Someone said Misha (or the rest of the SPN cast in general) flying with MJN would be amazing, and I agree so here we are.

Also vaguely related, apparently for his TSA America shorts, Misha voluntarily subjected himself to dozens of private pat downs at airports? Yeah. All in all, Misha has a similar chaotic energy and wealth of crazy and questionable ideas as the MJN crew, and Jensen's love for pranks would fit right in as well.

• Misha and Douglas brainstorming ideas to get around a sticky situation that occurs during the flight? Martin would be appalled, I imagine, or maybe betrayed even—he thought they'd fly respectable actors, and then this...
• Misha and Jensen happily joining the MJN crew in one of their games. Maybe the MJN start a game at first that the passengers aren't supposed to be aware of, but Misha and Jensen find out and decide to turn the tables? Or maybe Carolyn enlisting Misha's and Jensen's help to one-up Douglas? I can imagine that things turn a bit naughtier than usual once they get started :D
• Something told as a series of Tweets from Misha (& Jensen)?
• Misha and Arthur bonding over art made out of food.
• Misha "get us the three least ordered items on the menu" is an adventurous eater. Arthur is a creative cook. A match made in heaven? Does Misha encourage Arthur to do his worst and then actually eat the result, to the disgust of everyone else? Do they exchange recipes?
• Arthur explaining Supernatural to the rest of the crew. Maybe with helpful ("helpful") interjections from Misha and Jensen? (Though I prefer if Arthur were more of a casual viewer than a fan and treat Misha and Jensen more or less like regular clients.)
• Misha and Douglas exchanging stories—I can imagine that Misha, with the life he's had and knack for funny storytelling, could easily give Douglas a run for his money. Maybe Douglas is irked because he's used to being the one with the wild and eloquent stories? Carolyn and Martin rolling their eyes and being done.
